User Switching/Account problem

Hi,

I'm a recent convert to Mac, and must say I love my new iMac.

Anyway - I have two accounts on the machine. Recently the system has started behaving oddly when I try to either switch user (the drop down on the top-right) or go into the Accounts settings in the System Preferences. The processes freeze-up. I have to use the "Force Quit" option to close the Preferences Window. The swirly time mouse icon is all I get at the top right. Eventually that goes away, but nothing happens.

Anyone seen this before?

Repairing permissions is a fundamental manteinance operation, it's good to run it weekly, and in particular after software updates... a good tool for OS X maintenance is Cocktail, it runs several optimization scripts for your Mac!
