Is there a front end application for administrating these permissions, can't seem to find anything at all.

Thanks for any ideas in advance.

"Mac OS X," perhaps? ;)

With Mac OS X Server, you have both "Server Admin" and "Workgroup Manager" to manage access permissions and users/groups.

With Mac OS X Client (non-server version), you have limited control over this in the "Users" pane of the System Preferences.

You can also manage UNIX permissions on a file basis using the "Get Info" window for the file in question.

middigit - just why are you changing permissions? there are good reasons at times to change them, but generally, UNIX gets it right the first time.

I'm speaking from the experience of watching my spousal unit change permissions because "I want them to be mine!" Eventually, programs or the whole system are not working, and it's time to run Disk Utility again to correct them for her.

If you know what you are doing and why, yeah, change them in the "get info" box for individual files or apps.
