using a 23" ACD on a MacBook Pro as the ONLY display???

my set-up is a 15" 2.16 gHz MacBook Pro w/ 2 gig ram with a 23" cinema display. I would like the ability to close the MacBook, and use the cinema display as the only display. When I try this, the mac goes into sleep mode after a couple minutes. I realize I could turn that feature off, but there should be an easier way??? correct?

That's perfectly normal behavior -- simply connect the display, close the PowerBook, then use an external keyboard/mouse to wake the machine.
