Using Airport Base Station to Extend a Linksys Wireless Network?

I'm staying in someone's home who uses a linksys wireless network, but the reception in my apartment is very weak. I have an airport express base station and would like to use this to extend the existing linksys network but am having problems with the setup. Is this possible to do? If so how?
