Using G5 as a wired<->wireless router

Hi ,

I am trying to configure my recently purchased G5 as a router between a wired and a wireless network. The G5 has already got an Airport Extreme Card built-in and a Network Card so I'd rather spend a bit of time making this work, rather than buying an Airport Extreme base station.

Here is the Configuration of the G5-Router for the 2 network interfaces :
( I know it looks a bit simplistic but as soon as this works I will add internet connection ...)

WIRED NIC:
Address Type : Static IP
Address : 192.168.244.1
Netmask : 255.255.255.0
router/getaway : none

WIRELESS AIRPORT :
Address Type : Static IP
Address : 192.168.243.1
Netmask : 255.255.255.0
router/getaway : none

All machines in the WIRED network have static IP adresses 192.168.244.x (x > 1) and the router set to 192.168.244.1.

All machines in the WIRELESS network have static IP adresses 192.168.243.x (x > 1) and the router set to 192.168.243.1.

Everything works fine in each network separately, but I can't get any connection from a WIRED machine to a WIRELESS one (expect from the G5-router).

Any ideas,

Thanks

I have an idea.

You can afford a G5.
Go buy a Wireless-G router from Linksys or an Airport Extreme (if you're fancy like me). Problem solved. G5 no longer wasted. :)
