Using my powerbook in Amsterdam ??

And I'd get one of those international multi-plug adapters. You never know when you have to visit yet another country, and you don't want to carry more than one of those adapters... :)
 
Oh yes - those sold in the airplanes. We have a bunch of them, and all are in use.
As stuff needs to work with UK, US, and Euro ... :) and the devices are bought everywhere.
 
All Apple's computers have been happy with any voltage between 90 and 240 volts since the first SE, and probably even before that, but the SE is the earliest one I can reliably remember. I used to use the outlet for electric razors in sleeping cars on trains to run the SE when travelling, much to the dismay of my PC-toting friends...

Not all. Emacs are preset. The computer's power supply is factory preset for single voltage operation, at either 110 V or 220 V.
The voltage is preset by Apple to the appropriate voltage for the country of sale


And some aren't auto sensing and have to be manually changed.
