I'm trying to boot my G5 into single user mode and then mount some external hard drives via an Adaptec 29160 SCSI card. I have some *nix experience and have done it previously with modprobe, but Darwin is a new beast for me. From other posts i found info about 'sudo kextstat' and found that com.adaptec.driver.7892 and some other files have been autodetected/loaded at startup, but that really hasn't helped.
1. Are these all the files needing to be loaded
2. How can i determine what device my hard drives are known as. (i.e. for me to 'mount /dev/????? /Volume/harddrive1' )
FYI, for those wondering why i want to do this. I want to copy off data or do dd imageing from one drive to another and want to make sure that the source drive is mounted in a read-only mode. -- Any other alternatives.
Thanks
