VCD with language dubbing. How to play just one?

I'm messing around with a VCD from Hong Kong that contains two language tracks, one in Cantonese, one in Mandarin Chinese. When I play the .dat file with Quicktime, I'm hearing both tracks at the same time. Grr! Does anybody know how to fix it so I hear just one?

Well if it's stereo -- i.e. one language per channel - you could just disconnect one speaker.

What software are you using to play the VCD?

If you have QuickTime Pro, you can deactivate the track you don't want to hear, by choosing "Edit -> Enable track..." In the dialog box you click the "On" icon, which will turn into an "Off" icon, and the track is disabled.

I'm a little unsure on the exact wording in the Edit menu, since I'm not running the english version, but it's the fifth option from the bottom of the menu.

Go to System Preferences->Sound->Output and set the balance to either the right or the left channel.
