I can transfer video from my camcorder to my vcr (to record). Can I transfer video from a vcr tape to my camcorder (to be used for editing in iMovie)? For some reason I am unable to. I am using the same cable used to transfer video from camcorder to vcr. Should I be using a different cable?

No, but your camcorder needs an "input" to be able to accept a video feed from your VCR. If you've still got the cables hooked into the same jacks as you did when you transferred video from your camcorder to the VCR, you can't go the other way.
Put the cable (I'm assuming it's an RCA-style cable) in the "video out" of the VCR and the other end in the "video in" of the camcorder. Should work that way for getting video from the VCR to the camcorder.
