Verizon Phone Compatabity

I have been using an old Moto T720 with a usb cable to connect to my power book , using the Verizon quick to net using a modem script.
I have to upgrade to a new phone. Is there a model that can function in this way without having to by into the EVDO plan.
No one is willing to answer this question.

Check out Howardforums.com. Lots of good info there on just what you are looking for. I have been successful with my Moto E815, but Verizon is working on shutting down exactly what you are wanting to do in a effort to make folks ante up for the data plans.
