Vertical Flashes on MBP Screen

Hello to all,

I've just had something happen that's happened maybe 2-3 times over the past 8 months or so: two vertical white bars suddenly flashed for just a fraction of an instance in the middle of my screen while I was typing an email in Thunderbird (each one about 1.5cm wide and about 2cm apart).

Is there any sort of diagnostic tests I can run to see if there is a problem?

Any suggestions on what my best course of action is to make sure than nothing is wrong?

Thanks

Sure! Apple has a decent diagnostic test for that. Your MacBook Pro may be one covered by a current repair program, and Apple will fix regardless of your warranty. Check at the apple.com support page to see if your model is one of those covered by Apple's repair program.

Thanks, DeltaMac.

Shortly after posting my original comments I found an Apple support article about running the diagnostics disk that came with my laptop. I did a detailed rather than default diagnostics run and everything came back clean.

Could this just be a small glitch for some reason rather than a real problem?

I just checked the Apple site for it's support/repair programs and they don't cover the video card that I have in my laptop.

I'll most likely just book some time at the genius bar at my local Mac store and get things checked, but would appreciate any feedback others may have.

Thanks
