My 3ghz intel mac pro duo has a lot of difficulty booting up. At first it doesn't even render an image on the monitor. After 2 more hard reboots the swirly time piece and mouse will show up but it will freeze there. After a couple more reboots the desktop appears but no icons and after a couple more reboots if I'm lucky the computer will start if not I get a very pixelated display that needs a couple more reboots to start normally. Once it is up and running, it usually functions well, with the occasional crash here and there. I've taken the ram out and I still get the same issues. I've replaced the video card and I still get the same issues. I've started from the DVD and still get the same issues. So it seems to be a logic board issue.
Do you know of other issues like this with this board?
Are there capacitor problems on the early intel mac pros?
Any ideas on how I can fix this without buying a new logicboard?
