I was recently given a Power Mac G4 From work. Being a PC user..this is all totally foreign to me but I would like to be able to use it.

Currently the Mac is running off 10.39. I would like to have it running off Leopard.
Finding a copy of Leopard with Snow leopard on the market is a task in itself. I did find a torrent file online..but as I said..I'm totally clueless when it comes to this and I have no clue how to download it. Please forgive me if this question seems totally obvious and stupid.

Okay so once I click the file I get a window that asks..Save file as, Plug in or application. I chose Save file as. when its finished..a window pops up that says.

The following disk images failed to mount. Reason, No mountable file system. Yep , I'm obviously clueless and doing something wrong. If anyone could help me..I would so appreciate it.

Also, I have Photoshop and other Adobe programs on this mac. When loading Leopard..am I going to lose these programs?

We can't help you with pirated software. If you seek a valid licensed copy of Leopard, look for a black retail install disc on eBay. That should install fine. I recommend having at least 2GB of memory installed. Other World Computing can hook you up for a good price if you don't have any on hand.

Believe me, i don't mind paying for the software at all. I even went as far as calling mac. They said they don't' have it. I'm really at a loss. Honestly..Leopard isnt costly at all..A torrent is the only place I could find it.
I will not buy software off eBay..I have tried it both times and gotten burned both times.

I see it's no less than $150 on Amazon. I don't know what you were buying on eBay before that didn't go so well. True, caution is important. However, as long as you choose a black retail disc and not a gray restore disc, you can't go wrong, especially if it will save you a bundle. If the cost doesn't matter to you, I won't stop you.

Make sure you only go to Leopard 10.5.* (which ever is the latest version).

Snow Leopard (10.6) will only work on Mac with the Intel chip. A G4 Mac has a PPC chip and will not run Snow Leopard.
