vhs to flat panel imac to quicktime to idvd

help- I was able to get old vhs to the computer using my video camera as analog-digital pass through. actually looks pretty good- but I was only able to save it as a QT movie. idvd did not seem to work- I have iMovie 4.01 and I am not sure what version of iDVD- but I get the message that I need a newer version of iDVD (3.0). But, is there a way to convert QT files to the type of format I need to transfer it to DVD that will play in a regular DVD player? any software (shareware or commercial) that will do this- do I already have this as part of iMovie and I just don't know what I am doing? Thanks

I'm not sure if I remember the different versions of iMovie, but you should be able to Export (or Share in newer versions). In the export/share dialog box, click the Quicktime tab and choose full size. It should then convert it to a dv file which I think any version of iDVD should read.
