Video connector

Trying to connect a 12 inch Powerbook laptop to a 23 inch Cinema Display monitor..Have ordered 2 of the wrong adaptor so far. THe correct one appears to hav a firewire (small connector) on one end and the other end is a larger rectangular piece (almost like a serial connector)with 24 pins..Any ideas on this? the Apple store doesnt show the correct cable..

you need to know whether you have a mini vga or a mini dvi (digital video) powerbook. Obviously, the DVI one supports digital video, while the VGA one does not.
