Viewing POST?

I am a new Mac user and was wondering how I can view the POST (power on self test). I don't know, something about watching memory checks, files mounting, and the network initializing makes me happy. Plus its way easier to figure out whats broken in the event something does one day. Oh I have a G4 Powerbook running 10.4.3.

PS I am sure there is a post on this somewhere but it seems the search function on this site is disabled?!? Thanks for your patience.

The only way I know of to do this is in what is called Single User mode. When you boot up, press and hold Apple+s and you will see the post. However, what this really does is load the *NIX sub-layer and not the actual OS X user interface.

I imagine that there is a way to then load the interface but I don't know it. If you decide to try that, type reboot when you get bored (or crash your system playing with things lol) and everything will restart the normal way.

Found it! It was in the How-To section here

"Command + "V" pressed while Mac OS X boots will show
a text screen that scrolls boot status info. (Macworld's 50 Top Mac OS X Tips)"
