Viewing webpages only for IE 6

My work laptop (Windows) died and I really need to get to a site on my company intranet. When I attempt from my PB I get an error saying "web page can only be viewed with internet explorer 6." Does anyone know of a way to get around this? Plugin or something? I tried with IE 5.x but had no luck.

Beside my company's poor web design what is specific to IE 6 that would cause this?

Thanks

Try using Firefox and install the extension called "User Agent Switcher." This tricks the website to thinking that you're running either IE 6 on Windows, Opera on Windows, IE 5 on a Mac, etc. This has worked for me in some cases where the site was requiring IE when it really didn't need to.

Of course if the site requires ActiveX controls, then you might be out of luck. There is a project for ActiveX control support on Firefox, but it's still very early in development and only for Windows if I recall.
