Just wondering if anyone's tried running VPC from another hard disk, and if there's a noticeable difference in performance. There was in VPC 4 on my old G3, but I don't have that anymore. I'll buy a firewire drive if it's worth it.
Well, I'm running VPC 5.0 from OS X 10.1.3, and I have the drive image for VPC Win 2000 stored on a 60GB 7200RPM ATA100 drive connected to a Sonnet Tempo ATA100 PCI card, and there's not much difference. I attribute the slowness of VPC 5.0 to the fact that OS X runs differently from OS 9 and a fast hard drive won't make that much of a difference concerning VPC.
I am running five of my seven VPCs it from a 7200 rpm drive which is on the other ATA bus, and I can't see any difference, then again, I can only compare two of them, the rest are different OSes (3x Linux, Win98 SE, WinXP, Win2K, BeOS, Solaris)
