Has anyone used or purchased the shareware utility VueScan to use with his/her scanner? I'd like to know what other people have experienced before forking out $40.00 for the shareware fee. I've read good reviews, but there's also the "real world" too. I have a Hewlett Packard 5300C scanner. The software allowed me to scan-in an image and do other things too. The HP software in Mac OS 9 does not allow the user to anything else while scanning an image. Any ideas are welcome.

It's terrific! I use it with my old UMAX 1200S SCSI scanner with an Orange Micro SCSI/FireWire converter, and it works beautifully!

I don't why...it's a bit slower with my Epson Perfection 1200U....

Otherwise it's fine. I may pay for it too

It offers me the only solution I know of for my old Astra 610S scanner in OS X. 40 bucks is better than forlking out $100+ for a new scanner.
