Want to replace SCSI adapter--recommendations?

I have an OrangeMicro Grappler 906F SCSI card in my 466 MHz PowerMac G4 (digital audio model) that I have been using to connect to a Polaroid SprintScan 4000. It has the last driver/firmware that OrangeMicro released before folding. I'm thinking about replacing the Grappler and could use some recommendations.

Under OS X (currently running 10.3.9) the Grappler has never worked well with sleep mode--if you turn it off while the Mac is sleeping (via the Sleep command under the Apple menu), when you wake the Mac it never quite wakes up all the way, and the screen typically stays dark except for a CD-like mouse pointer.

Though I'm not using 10.4 yet, ideally I'd like something that would work well there.

Polaroid's own support site, which has not been kept current and makes no mention of 10.4, recommended cards from Initio and Attotech.

I looked at Initio's web site (http://www.advansys.com/support/index.htm). It looks like their cards also have problems with sleep mode.

Attotech's cards are too expensive.

What else is out there that might work?
