Hi,
I have a MacMini on which I've been running OSX. While archiving some old documents today, a message popped up saying Virus Protection is not detected, and now the Mac is running Windows XP. How do I get OSX back and how can something like this happen?

Huh???

So you're saying that in the middle of your OS X session Windows decided to take over during your archiving and didn't want you to go back to OS X?

While this makes little sense, I'm going to assume you have an Intel-based Mac mini and that you've used Boot Camp to dual boot Mac OS X and Windows. And for some reason, now you're booting into Windows as your default. If this is the case, reboot the Mac and hold down Option when you hear the startup chime. Hold it down until you see two hard drive icons, one for OS X and one for Windows XP. Select the one for Mac OS X and you should be back in your session for Mac OS X.

Hope this was the case and that it helped.

Also, open your System Preferences/Startup Disk pane, and choose your OS X volume. This assures that you won't boot to Windows if you don't choose to do that at the Option boot screen.
