Webserver Blocked...?

Dris

The Benevolent
Suddenly my webserver isn't working.

http://dris.dyndns.org:8080/

My ISP blocks port 80 among others in order to stop the spread of the CodeRed worm (stupid Windows), so I'm using 8080 for my server.

However, it's not working. I've been doing this for about a year now without trouble. I'm hooked up through my Airport which has port mapping enabled pointing public port 8080 to private port 80 on my server. I'm aware that you can't access it within my LAN, so I'm using the W3C's CSS validator to see if outside sources can get to the server (thought that was kind of clever ;)). I've also verified the error through my friends.

I don't see any reason it shouldn't be working, and I've spent the last few hours frustrating myself and pissing myself off with no yield of answers. Anyone else figure anything out?

since u have a lan...

then try testing ur server inside the lan:
http://<lan_ip_addr_of_server_machine>:8080/

in ur browser

if that does not work then somethi's is worng with that machine.. like probably firewall settings, or messed up Webserver Configuration.

but if it does work, then obviously it has something to do with the Airport port mapping. Your machine ip must have changed or something..

I've checked, double checked, and triple checked. I can get to it fine through its private IP, but for some reason not from the outside. Port mapping is allowing connections to port 8080 to pass through to port 8080 on the server, and the IP hasn't changed. It's getting pretty frustrating.

k try resetting ur airport.

then access ur site using port 80 form outside ur lan (using ur external ip address)

Yep, turned out that unplugging and plugging in the Base Station was all I needed. Eh, so much trouble for such a simple solution. :p
