Weird Issue

I can't seem to find anything on this, but hope someone can help: every now and then I have this problem where double clicking on a file on my desktop just makes a copy of it instead of opening it. When this starts to happen, dragging a file into photoshop and opening it causes a new untitled file to open with the image I'm trying to open instead of actually opening the file.

This problem usually gets fixed after a reboot or two. Anyone have any idea why this is happening?

I am not sure, but it might be that a key on the keyboard (or mouse) is sticky and makes it behave like it does now. You might even check the universal access pane for any odd settings.
