I have a big problem. My iMac G5 has seemingly crashed. I was googling around when I had a system error. I shut it down & now every time I try to start it up it begins it's normal OSX startup & then goes to a black screen & promps me to login. I can login under my username & it says "Welcome to Darwin" From there I have no idea what to do. I am not technically advanced enough to know any commands, I am lost. What to do? Any advice would be appreciated.
 
After the password entry then press ENTER. THEN Type in "logout" exactly like that without the quotations then press ENTER! Then it should take you back to Tiger/Panther/Whatever OS X you use.

No luck there. I'll put down here exactly what I have...


Darwin/BSD (Hyde-Bakers-Computer.local) (console)
Login: myusername
Password:
Last login: Mon Apr 16 18:58:51 on console
Welcome to Darwin!
Hyde-Bakers-Computer:~ myusername$


from there if I type in logout it goes back to the blue screen for about a minute & then goes back to the above first lines where I'm prompted to Login again. It doesn't send me to to my operating software. The text below appears if I sit logged in for a few minutes.
