WEP Lock

I have a Belkin-N MIMO router. My problem is that whenever the internet connection is dropped (sleep, dropped signal), the WEP password reverts to None, despite entering the password and clicking Apply. Why won't it stay?

Also, when I try to set up any other security other that WEP, the network systems prefs will Not take a password.

Finally, when I go though the setup assistant and enter a WEP password there, the Airport connection is immediately dropped. The same happens when I try to set up security via the Belkin.

Out of curiosity, have you checked to see if there are any firmware updates for the Belkin router? It's possible that there might be a firmware update for it that resolves such problems.

Another solution for WEP on some Macs is to put a "$" character before entering the WEP encryption key.

Did you set up a Location in the Apple Menu for your wireless connection? Then, when you enter your WEP Key, be sure to have your Keychain save the password.
