What date does your System Profiler tell you?
I was looking for a "date of manufacture" for my MacBook in System Profiler. Can't find any dates on there now, I'm sure that the date of manufacture was in there once and would get reset with PRAM.
Anyway, the only date I could find was in the Hardware/Diagnostics where the Hardware Test gave me the following info:

Makes me wonder if the test actually came up with a valid result....

My new MacMini arrived today. Serial starts VM806... So it was made last week. And it was shipped to me on 6th Feb according to the tracker.
Maybe the guy that suggested that the dates are a couple of weeks ahead and show the expected date of arrival in the US from the factor, was right?
Anyway - where is the VM factory?
Could be a new code for Taiwan, or, as the author of that article said, one of the unknown countries of origin.
