what port should I use to login to OSX via telnet on OS9?

Is telnet turned on? The default remote login application turned on from the GUI sharing prefs is sshd not telnetd.

From OS X, you'd need NiftyTelnet SSH - look for it on Google or some such...

ssh port is 22, but telnet client wouldn't do you much good, unless you can do the encryption math in your head.;)

Ah yes well mental arithmetic ....
I saw that there was an allow remote login via terminal apps and wanted to try .
Your correct Nifty Telnet doesn't do me much good from OS9 .
thanks anyway

Sorry mate, I meant NiftyTelnet SSH would work from OS 9, not X.

Not plain old NiftyTelnet, mind you, but the SSH version. You have to futz about in the connection options somewhere, I think it defaults to telnet - been a while since I used it.

Yes, if you turn on remote login in the prefs, that turns on SSH, not telnet. It was telnet in Public Beta, but SSH in the final.

Sorry for the confusion.

Dear Scruff
