I like the idea of it being on one side or the other, but the bouncing sideways just looks silly to me. Bouncing up and down goes with that whole gravity thing, and just looks better (IMO, of course).

Mine is on the bottom, but I do hide it...I don't want it taking up screen space. Only when I need it do I want to see it :D

I definitely agree with nkuvu on the whole gravity bouncing issue...when the dock is on the side it just doesn't look right when things bounce.

I keep mine on the right, but I just turned animated app openings off so it doesn't bounce. It looks much better and saves a lot of processor cycles.

I've never been one to conserve CPU cycles. :)

Not only do I have the bouncing enabled, I also use a dock app CPU monitor (X3) which chews up processor cycles itself...

The other thing I almost forgot to mention. If I have the Dock on the right, apps don't seem to respect its space. For example, OmniWeb won't go behind the Dock if the Dock is on the bottom, but will go behind it if the Dock is on the right. Correct me if I am mis-remembering...

I keep the Dock on the right, and turn off bouncing, magnification, and set my Appearance to Graphite. :) OmniWeb does indeed respect the Dock's position on the right. You mean if you hit the '+' when something is larger than the browser window, right?

Hidden at the bottom of the screen. i used to just have it really really small, but then I realized the pleasure of a good big dock...

Same for me.

Not really. I mean that if I have the dock at the bottom, I can't re-size the OW window behind the dock. If it's on the right, I can. I didn't play much with the maximizing of windows, so that may work just fine.

Oh, I see. I just put the Dock on the bottom, and it let me put anything behind it, just like on the right. Finder, OW, Terminal...

That's strange. I can move windows behind the doc, but not re-size them behind the dock. Does that make sense?

Now it does. You are correct. I can't resize behind it on the bottom, but on the right I can.

No lefties with me? :(

If you mean left-handed, I am. But I for some reason always used the mouse in my right hand, and do keep the Doc on the right edge. So look at it this way, I can write and use the mouse at the same time. :) But I'm screwed if I ever get a tablet.

Hey, it is great to be able to use a tablet with the left hand and at the same time use the mouse.
When I just use the tablet, I think it is really pain to go into menus ans all that stuff.
And as a lefty, I can use the tablet for drawing, and when I have to click through some menus, I don't have to put the pen away.

Somehow, I see myself as a lefty "gifted" :D

Problem is that I really like the mouse that comes with the Wacom Graphire2. I considered getting one just for the mouse, but stuck with my Kensington since the tablet limits your movement, plus I didn't need to spend that much just for the mouse.

I keep mine on the right, pinned at the end... this way I can just throw my trackball from anywhere on the screen and get to the dock.

This is also because I use a dual-monitor setup, having the dock bottom-center was always a hassle, because I couldnt' throw the cursor (well, I could, but I'd have to back up to the dock afterwards).

When you only have one display, it doesn't matter, because you'd always be throwing the cursor in one direction... but if I'm on the other display it's a long ways to go...

Then there's always the keyboard shortcuts, of course...

I meant both I guess... :)
I have my dock on the left pinned to the top, and I happen to be left handed...
