what software for dealing w/ .r or .rar files?

how do i deal w/ .rar or .r files that i download... what kind of software do i need to combine these downloads? thanks.

Stuffit Expander does it. Just place all the segmented files in a single folder, then drag and drop the *.rar file onto Stuffit Expander, it should then automatically join the file together. Make sure you have all the parts or else Expander will complain and say like the file is corrupt.

I´ve had some problems with Stuffit. Often it says it´s corrupted even though I have all the files. I use Unrar instead. It´s a command line tool. Just install it, and then navigate to the folder where the rar-files are located and type "unarar e *****.rar". Works great
Unrar is included in PCTools wich you can find at VT.
