What us Mac users really need...

I like Apple's Pro application,
I'm already using FCP and Shake,
the only thing that's missing now is
a 3D app like Maya.

OS X and G5 is perfect for heavy 3D Work.
and maybe down the line ..i3d, thats light
enough to work on my 12" PB.

Build-in dynamic CPU frequency scaling into the G4 chips and churn out an 12" iBook that has a 2Ghz G4 processor. The battery life shouldn't be affected much because it'll only run at 2Ghz when the need is there, else the CPU will get throttled back to some sensible value, like 500 Mhz which is sufficient for most tasks. I just like to have the extra power available :)

Having bluetooth and Airport Extreme as a standard feature on all macs would be nice too.

Would like to program my cars route through mapquest, download the info to my ipod and slip it into the ipod slot in the dash. After hitting cruise control the car takes over and I can sit back and watch the scenery go by. Cruise Control should be renamed Auto-Gas.
Ahhh... That's putting a lot of faith in the quality/accuracy of MapQuest... and the fact that GPS is only accurate to a few meters vs. millimeter-level accuracy I'd want in a car.

My parents live in a mountainous area... I guarantee if we tried to do that there your car would drive you right off a cliff.

;)

As far as cars and my home computer... I don't want to do anything. I want my car to have a built in computer and WiFi connection. When it's in the garage it should automatically synch itself with iTunes etc. No need to carry an iPod around.

That is a great idea. Now mix that with the Newton I mentioned earlier and we got a winner. Just don't lose it or you'll be F'd. So lets add a fingerprint authenticating grip.
Also, as we are learning from our Diebold e-voting systmes. It beter have a leagally defensable auditable paper-based hard copy of ballances/transactons.

Regardless of fingerprints, without an audit trail you could not actually proove that you even had any money to begin with.

I want a Dual 28GHz G10 XServe that is the size of an oreo surgically
implanted (like they do with pacemakers) and hooked into my nervous
system to wirelessly communicate with a special monocle that mimics
a 1024x768 monitor.
Ouch!

That means you'd have to go back into surgery every time you needed an hardware upgrade... say to the Quad 90GHz model necessary to prolong life to the age 120.

...On the other hand maybe this is what we all need to break us of our lust to have the latest-and-greatest?

I would like a Gig E-net port in my arm, so that i can just plug in and go! - The human brain - far better than a G10! </lol>

I'd like a really good sandwich.

Oh, and Doom3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Doug

P.S. Oh, and some more memory to be able to play Doom3. WHY did Apple cripple the low-end G5s with only 256 mb?

If I had that, could I use a software update to fix cancer? ::ha::

My stomach could use an update in drivers to.

Huh? You _are_ aware that you can get that with more memory or even buy some more later, aren't you? 'Cripple' lets me think you mean you can't upgrade memory on the G5s, which of course would be nonsense...

A 2 button scroll mouse. Duh, Apple.

Hear, hear. The apple mouse is extremely cool, but useless. And embarassing. And it doesn't really fit the new PowerMac or displays anymore...

Fryke,

Yeah, I know. The low-end standard configuation _is_ crippled out of the box. Of course it's a simple thing to upgrade the memory. After I pay off my credit card a bit ;).

Incidentally, I would never buy more RAM from Apple. In the U.S., at least, Apple's memory prices are sky-high.

Doug

It's the same all over the world. Luckily, there are Apple resellers that also have cheaper memory. Or you can just write out the specs and get memory at any cheapo PC stuff seller. Just make sure you can give it back if it doesn't work with your machine.

UPS Worldship software for businesses to use ...
I second that. I've called up UPS Worldship tech support a couple times. The first time I asked about a possible Mac version, the lady said "they're working on one". The second time the guy said "don't know anything about that". <shrug>

Did I mention a two button mouse? :)

I've bought plenty of memory over the years from companies such as Ramjet and Memorytogo. I've had good luck so far, but I know OS X can be finicky.

I'll soon get two 512 MB chips, since they have to be installed in pairs. That should be enough mem for awhile.
