What's the "Desktop" folder in a 5G iPod for?

I have a 5.5G iPod Video, what is the "Desktop" folder in it for?

It's for putting things from your Desktop in.

I don't think that's a native folder, it may have been added by an iPod-related app, Finder error, accidental file transfer, etc. I would back it up and delete it if it bugs you.
