What's the new hierarchy of characters to force items to bottom of a list?

In OS 9, I used to use tildes (~) at the beginning of a file name to force that document to the bottom of an alphabetical list. I believe the bullet (•) did the same thing. But in OS X, most of these characters now fall *before* the letter, A, which has ruined the scheme.

Where can I find a list of the *new* character hierarchy for OS X? I've searched everywhere.

Thanks.
