Rockee
I'm on my friends XP machine right now. I noticed that the My Computer resembles the new iMac! I never heard about this. Have you?

It doesn't look exactly like it. And it is deformed. :p

Don't worry, wdw_, i don't think Apple copied that.

But the plans for it might have been stolen at roughly 1 AM by a Microsoft Executive. ;)

hehe! Someone pointed that out before! However, Apple die-hards should note that, i remember the image (used around XP) as well as the icon Featured in Whistler's Very First Luna Skinned Build, back @ 2428. Thats Quite some time ago (when there was Still a reason to forgive crashing  )

...So WHO ARE THE INEVATORS? ! (i am sure i spelt that wrong! ed, please Edit! haha)

really, we gotta stop this. :)

there are threads on this board about 'hey, this & that company copied apple!' where there's really no reason to state anything like this. a TFT display that uses 'white' as color! someone help! a notebook that has a shiny metal cover! please, only the TiBook can have that! a widescreen notebook! waaah! (sharp did the latter first, btw.)

i think there was no REAL plagiate ever since the eMachines' original iMac copy.

Uhm, so what do you think Windows XP is? ;)

I've been using OSX since late 1999 [developer preview 3 I think]

I'm 95% sure that OSX 10.0 was released before the official release of XP.

...what if we are talking BETA, or even Alpha releases, Pre-whistler, ie Neptune?! hehe, its a close call!

Nonetheless, the My Computer Icon has been around alot longer than the iMac (LCD) has been!

Uh, if we're talking about beta and alpha releases, Mac OS X has it down, Neyo. Rhapsody (the original codename for OS X) has been under development since Apple bought NeXT, which was back in 1997. And yes, the official release of Mac OS X was out before the official release of Windows XP – March 24, 2001 as opposed to October 24, 2001 – which is a difference of 7 months.

i am not talking official releases, i know the deal there! As For Diggin back Before X Beta / Alpha's blah blah, i guess Microsoft could call upon Windows NT as a whole, this sounds kinda petty my friend!

Neyo, you were the one that said, and I quote:

...what if we are talking BETA, or even Alpha releases, Pre-whistler, ie Neptune?! hehe, its a close call!

This was in response to someone saying that Mac OS X came out before Windows XP. I was just setting the record straight that Mac OS X has been under development LONG before Windows XP was even thought of.

And if you're going to "call upon" Windows NT as a whole, Apple can "call upon" NeXTSTEP, which is part of the foundation of Mac OS X, which stretches back into the late 80s. And if you really want to get picky, I could call upon FreeBSD, which has been in development for a couple decades.

So, yes, Mac OS X has been under development longer than Windows XP in every way.

Call it "petty", but I wanted to set the record straight, because Mac OS X clearly came before Windows XP.

Sure thing SimX, The post as a whole, started off quite innocently, merely being Suggestive, but has transformed into something quite different.

Surely From quotes such as:

...what if we are talking BETA, or even Alpha releases, Pre-whistler, ie Neptune?! hehe, its a close call!

You can pick up that i am merely generalising. Look at the way it is written, do i come across to you as a serious kinda guy?! Especially on things such this?! After all, we were talking about the Stupid My Computer icon, in comparison to the iMac, Where we are now is kinda silly, and i am assuming you agree!

i think sometimes, you mean well SimX, and thats cool, but maybe you take things kinda serious, and in the manner in which you wrote your reply, you appeared arrogant to me, hence my kinda Abrupt response! I don't need no crap, so i guess we should Just call it a "mis-understanding"?

Peace

NeYo

Neyo, no offense or anything, but with your writing style, I have a hard time judging whether you are serious or whether you are joking. As far as I can tell, that quote is exactly like you normally write, so I assumed you were serious, and so I wanted to correct what you were saying.

Sorry if I come off arrogant (as I often do), but I didn't mean it like that.

Though I'm not quite sure exactly what that means, it sounds appropriate.
