What's wrong with my G4 Aluminum 15" laptop?

When I have it turned on for a while, and I don't use it, the screen goes black, and I'm assuming the computer has gone to sleep, but when I press a key (any key), nothing happens. I have to re-boot the computer.

Any idea why this is happening? The computer is 5 months old, running 10.3.8

Woops. Guess I should have posted that. Thanks for cleaning up after me, Bobw. I'm a bit scatter-brained today.
 
I see in your post on Apple's boards that this happened after you used the fax.
Try trashing the com.apple.print.FaxPrefs.plist

If that doesn't help, look for any plist files for energy saver, power manger and trash those, restart after doing this.
