when firmware update for OSX?

hey, so we had our funeral for OS9, when can i expect to get firmware updates for OSX? mine is horribly out of date, but i need OS9 to update, and i haven t even seen a copy of OS9 in almost a year!

4.2.8 firmware is newest, and i m running 4.2.5! i hope apple gives us firmware upgrades for OSX soon!
 
Is Firmware something you only need to upgrade if you have a particular reason, as in "If it's not broken, don't fix it"? My G4 867 (Quicksilver), if I'm reading the correct part of System Profiler, is 4.25f1. Is that it, the Boot ROM?
 
well yeah, that is what i was looking at, although i will admit that i m not sure that firmware and boot ROM are the same thing.
