When will AOL Instant Messger be ready for Mac OS X?

I think the most recent version of it came out like a day or so after OS X so they didn't put anything into it, but other companies were more than ready when OS X came out. Is AOL just apathetic towards making a carbonized version of Instant Messenger for Mac OS X. Steve Jobs said him self, that carbonizing apps doesn't take too long.

I've read nothing about OS X on AOL's IM site. I think AOL just doesn't want to do it because they really don't need to since Mac OS X is a beta.

I found out that Fire is the same thing as AOL IM. It's also ICQ and a Yahoo thing. More information on versiontracker.com

Fire is great but it doesn't support file transfers :(. I'm going to send an e-mail to the author asking for this feature. If anyone else wants this feature please join me in asking for it. btw, aol's Mac support has always been crappy. I don't use them for anything other than IM but I've noticed that they tend to release the Mac version of their products weeks if not months after the PC version. Lets make Fire the ultimate replacement so that we don't have to depend on any of the IM companies.

Just my thoughts on the subject :),

Fire is a really neat app, and having file transfers would be great. However, Eric (the author) has it listed on his "to do" list (adding file transfers) and also says it is unlikely it will ever get done.

For now I'm happy to be able to use Fire, and there is no big hurry or need for AOL to port AIM. When they do, if the features are better, we can switch. Until then, definitely give Fire a shot. And DON'T bug him about file transfers...that is the beauty of actually reading a FAQ. ;-)
