Where are my Cookies?

Hi All,

It's my first thread so go easy on me

I've recently installed Chache Out X to run on startup as sugested to improve system maintenance. However now I cannot access any sites that require cookies to be enabled to view them.

How do I turn my cookies back on?

Thanks all

Depends on the Browser. Netscape and Safari have "cookies" listed
in prefs/security. Explorer has the switch in prefs/receiving.

Thanks Albloom, It says they are already turned on, so why can I no longer access the .Mac support page? any ideas? Do you think it might be to do with Cache Out X?

Thanks again

If you're clearing your cookies, pages won't remember you. Don't use the cookie remover from the program. Use your browsers preferences.

What browser are you using? I don't see an "on" option in
any of the three that I have.

For netscape, I have (1) allow cookies based on privacy
settings -- medium and (2) accept cookies normally. And
Cookie manager/sites has the "don't let them back" button
unchecked.

What is your browser and what are *all* your cookie related
settings?

Wouldn't it have been faster to read the program description? To wit:

Cache Out X (COX) is a utility for Mac OS X that specializes in deleting the cache files of the System and of Internet browsers. Additionally, it can delete virtual memory file(s), erase system history files, as well as cookies and Internet-related navigation/download history files.

Not to sound rude, but you're the one using the program... wouldn't it have been faster for you to read the program description? ;)

If you're using Cache Out X to delete your cookies, then that's most likely why sites that require cookies aren't functioning properly. All you have to do is log back into those sites that require cookies, and new cookies will be created. If you clear out the cookies with Cache Out X again, then, of course, those cookies are gone and you'll have to re-log in to re-create the cookies again.

I prefer Cookie Muncher. Works for cross-platform and is quite functional. You can delete cookies, delete expired cookies, save cookies to a master list where they are never deleted and it's also easy to edit cookies.

Dear Caca -- No, I'm not. Debairaclij is. I read the writeup after you
asked the question.

And no. I haven't figured out a way to respond to a specific person
on this forum either.
