well ive done seaches for swap files on my comp and i only find swapfile0, i have 896mb ram, so i guess a low swap file is understandable, but i ran every app just about and i know i was using much more than my allocated, but couldnt find any more swapfiles and 0 was still only 80mbs in size.. so does anyone know where the rest of it is? or what its called? or how to find out? etc

It is still stored in /private/var/vm under 10.2. I can prove this too: Open Terminal, then type 'pico /etc/rc'. (minus the single-quotes on all of these, obviously) then press control-w to search, and type in swap and press return. It should bring you to the section entitled "Start the virtual memory system." Right under the ConsoleMessage there is the line that sets the swap directory. It will read 'swapdir=/private/var/vm' unless you have changed it like I have.

Most likely you just aren't going over your physical amount of RAM. Try running top in terminal, and see if it really is going over your physical RAM. Just opening a bunch of applications doesn't take up much RAM. Try opening some Image viewing/editing program and opening 100+ digital photos, that'll really page your system out in no time.

well i have mucho amounts of image editing program so i did that ;)

anyways i was able to move my swap file, but most swap files ive gotten is 3, i know that osx uses more swap than this.. especially running classic... so what im wondering is, is there any other place that swap is stored?

it just doesnt seem right, maybe im just paranoid ;)
