Ed: It's hard to find the time to respond to all the people I want to. Usually, the way it goes is I'm the only one defending my view against 3 or 4 of you guys with the same view. What I usually do is respond to the view that is most inflamatory to me, so take it as a compliment;)

Anyway, let me adress you because lines of common decency and disinformation have been crossed:

habilis - i don't think you ever replied to my presentation of the links to the 'new american century' site where our current leaders are quite open about their desires for war long before they had the power to wage it.

CURRENT LEADERS ED? This is a non-profit lobbyist group, totally unaffiliated with our current administration. This is their group description:

"Established in the spring of 1997, the Project for the New American Century is a non-profit, educational organization whose goal is to promote American global leadership. The Project is an initiative of the New Citizenship Project (501c3); the New Citizenship Project's chairman is William Kristol and its president is Gary Schmitt. "
you left out this statement they made:

i see one important difference between this war and saddam's madness that some believe it is so humanitarian to kill for - under saddam, people who were killed and tortured were not innocent.

This is one of the most amazing quotes I've ever heard. How DARE YOU assume this? You're telling me the Kurds, the women and children, gassed dead in the streets by the THOUSANDS were not innocent??? Their villages in southern Iraq, ALL 4,000 of them were bulldozed and the rest of the refugees, about 250,000 of them were forced into the mountains where HALF of them died from cold and starvation, thousand and thousand and thousands of women and children - are "not innocent"!!! Keep talking. 2 days ago a woman was hung in the town square for WAVING, WAVING to an American soldier - you call that QUALITY OF LIFE??? With statements like that, your liberal party needs no enemies.

there was a choice whether to put oneself in danger or not.
That statement is pure sophistry. Tell that to the Shiites, or the Marsh Arabs or the Kurds who all lost approximately 200,000 men, women, and children a piece. They might have a different story to tell.
