Where is the .aliases file?

Hi all you Mac OS X beta users!

Can someone tell me how I can edit the terminals aliases?
I´d like to change the gnutar command to something simpler...

Try ln -s <path of original> <path of link>
or alias x=gnutar

Not using MacOS X, just my 10c worth of Unix experience
