If I click on the hard disk icon on my desktop, I can see a place for "Music" and "Pictures" but where should I put my movie files? How can I make a place called "Movies" in there?

I am using OS X.

Oh I figured out how, just make a folder called "movies" and then drag and drop it in there. But it looks like a plain folder icon. Can I give it a fancy icon for movies?

Typically, the only installed (visible) folders at the boot drive's root level are:

Applications
Developer (optionally installed by user)
Documents (not so with Tiger; but, can be created and utilized)
Library
System
Users

The only installed (visible) folders in each specific user's folder are:

Desktop
Documents
Library
Movies
Music
Pictures
Preferences
Public
Sites

Each of these folders have a custom icon.

Click on the user's 'Movies' folder, select the 'Finder's 'File, Get Info' menu item (or 'Command I'), click on the upper left icon, do a 'Finder' 'Edit, Copy' ('Command C'), click on your newly created 'Movies' folder, click on its upper left icon, select the 'Finder's 'Edit, Paste' menu item ('Command V'). Your newly created 'Movies' folder should now have a custom icon. Close the 'Get Info' windows.
