which camcorder?

I'm looking for a Sony or Canon camcorder under $400, new, that stores footage on flash memory cards and uses a storage format compatible with iMovie '07 or '08. Any recommendations?

Why doesn't iMovie directly support mpeg2 when so many cameras seem to use that as a storage format?

I suggest that you check the Camcorder Ratings of various brands. Most of the time, it can help when you make a decision. This is what I do when I don't have any idea about certain products. Good luck.
