why cant I see my FAt32 drive over the network

Hi Folks,

I have a mac mini with OS X.4. I bought a Lacie 250GB hard drive and used FAT32 for compatibillity with the dark side :-) However when I use my laptop/airport to connect , I only see the built in HD and not the external one (USB) connected to the mini. I see it on the desktop of the mini? I tried to connect with the remote finder 'smb://MummyBear.local/voulmes/itunes' but get an error -36? any ideas??
