Why do websites say 4-6 weeks?

AD is the domain system introduced in Win2k and very slightly extended in Win2k3 server.

It's somewhat similar to other directory services (NDS) and is intended to provide a comprehensive way to provide authentication and authorization services, and allow large-scale management of users, systems, etc.

Except for some of the kludgy, the stupid, and the just plain weird stuff, it's actually not a bad piece of technology.

It's also those parts that make me worried. Mac OS X getting AD client support is a very good thing for corporate users, but if doesn't integrate well and the IT guys get burned, well... Chances are they're not going to take the risk on Apple again.

Exactly.

AD integration is so vital for this product to be considered prime time for the business world. Not every place known to man will simply dump AD in favor of Open Directory, or such.

I wouldn't mind doing that, but it's not my call! ;)
