Why so many NFS processes?

I recently used NFSmanager 1.0b7c, successfully, to mount my firewire drive as a shared NFS drive so that I could use it from other machines on the LAN.

Q: is is normal that on the Mac I have 4 *nfsiod processes and no less than 7 * nfsd processes?

The reason for having multiple nfsiod's and nfsd's is for performance; each can handle a separate request. If you have a look at /System/Library/StartupItems/NFS/NFS and look for nfsiod and nfsd, you'll see exactly where they start up.
