I've spent about 4 hours searching many forums for the answer so bear with me if you've answered it somewhere else - I just could find it.
Okay, I went to the Pioneer firmware update site and got the latest update
(dated 8/6/06). I followed all the directions in the macosv.com "[HOW TO] Flash a new Pioneer drive on a Mac" forum and the DVRFlash read me text. I think I successfully flashed it since I see the following in the system profile:
PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-111D:
Firmware Revision: 1.19
Interconnect: FireWire
Burn Support: Yes (Unsupported)
Profile Path: None
Cache: 2000 KB
Reads DVD: Yes
CD-Write: -R, -RW
DVD-Write: -R, -RW, +R, +RW, +R DL
Burn Underrun Protection CD: Yes
Burn Underrun Protection DVD: Yes
Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD-Raw, DVD-DAO
Media: No
My question - Why, if this is the latest firmware update from Pioneer (that, btw Pioneer states is version 1.23) is the above "Firmware Revision" in the System Profile saying it's 1.19? What am I missing? What can I do to get the 1.23 version? Did I do something that I will not be able to fix?
What is a Patchburn? Do I need this?
Also, if you could explain to me what "unsupported" Burn Support means - it was addressed in other threads but I couldn't quite understand.
Once again, if you've already answered this question - soooo sorry for taking up your time - just point me in the right direction.
Thanks so very much!
