Why is it that everytime i open IE i have to resize the screen to fit my screen because every time i open ie it like at half the screen. And with omniweb i cant extend the web browser all the way from corner to corner.why????? THANKS IN ADVANCE

because internet exploder is crap. :D
as for omniweb, you can save browser size in the browser/save window size menu ...

Heh. IE is THE best...if you want your window size to stay though (I don't know why yours doesn't) then just log-into your computer as root, resize the window, then re-login as your regular user.

Because ANYTHING you set in root is like setting it in "almost-solid-rock".

What?! Is there ANY basis for this?

Root and your normal user accounts -should- have COMPLETELY SEPARATE PREFERENCES. Things like browser window size... unless this is completely off... SHOULD BE STORED ON A PER USER BASIS.

As for IE- the window size usually reverts to the size of the last one that was created. Everyone using these popups is making this behavior very irritating... to fix it... try loading up a thread with some links in here (there are tons) Resize your window to a size you want, and then open a new link...

I -think- you shouldn't have many more problems... Just pay attention to where you're browsing... I had difficulty trying to confirm this being a definite resolution because I couldn't get my windows to open up.

I really don't use IE but i just spent the last 10 minutes screwing around with it in order to help you. While it doesn't have the save window thingee that OW does, it keeps the same window size/setup as when I quit. The next time I open IE, it opens a window just like the one I had whe I closed IE (not the same page, just the same width and height setup). Make sure you are resizing the MAIN browser window. Set that window to the size you like and every time you open IE thereafter, it will open like that.

But, really, please consider another browser.... Come away from the dark side.:)

IE uses the same 'remember' method as the finder. To change the default window size open up a brand new window, don't do anything to or in it except change the size, and close it. Open a new window and ta-da, new size. I like OmniWeb's method a lot better though. Actually, I like OmniWeb better for everything.

OmniWeb does what you want, ERICBRIAN2002.

First of all, hide your Dock. OmniWeb, because it intelligently knows when the Dock is active, doesn't allow you to resize behind the Dock, which is good, because then your resize widget doesn't get obscured.

Now stretch your window from corner to corner (you still won't be able to do it all the way because OmniWeb wants to make sure that you don't unhide your Dock when you're reaching for the resize widget, which is also a very nice feature -- I don't think 2 rows of pixels matters that much). Then choose "Save Window Size" from the "Browser" menu. Now whenever you create a new window it will be saved with that size. Note, however, that if your Dock is unhidden, it will make the size smaller so that the resize widget will never be obscured. However, if your Dock is hidden, the size you set will be preserved.

I found out how to thanks anyway. Love this web site. All i need to know is how to make omniweb my default web browser and how to get a button for my homepage next to the back and forword buttons.

OK.

Use OW preferences (the General Preferences) to set your start page. It's in the Omniweb Menu under Preferences.

To Make OW your default browser use OS X's System Preferences. Click on the Internet button. Click on the Web tab. There you will see several fields. There will be a pull down menu of browsers on your system. Choose Omniweb. There is also a homepage field but OW's preferences will supersede whatever you enter there. I have it set as the same as my OW and other browser prefs but it doesn't matter. I could see a reason for some to have that set as some other default for other browsers and OW set as something else. Whatever.

Hope that helped.

OHHHH!

to edit the order of buttons in OW, you go to the Browser Menu and choose Customize Toolbar.

There you can drag any of the buttons OW offers in any order you desire...

I keep all the Navigation buttons (like back, forward, stop, refresh, start) to the left of the URL box and the other stuff (print, search, font stuff, blah blah blah) to the right of the box. Works for me. But OW let's you set it up anyway you want. Good luck.
