Will my removable drives work with Mac OS X?

I am reluctant to install Mac OS X without first backing up my files to Zip or ORB drives.

I read that external hardware is not yet supported by Mac OS X. Does that mean I will not be able to mount backup to external Zip or ORB SCSI drives in Mac OS X? What about in Classic mode?

I am using an Initio Miles BlueNote Ultra-SCSI card with a B &W G3/450.
