Incase you're not familiar with this product, it is a JBOD (Just a Bunch Of Disks). It will show up to your system as 12 seperate 9.1GB disk drives. The only real reason you would want to purchase this, is if you wanted to do a RAID 0 setup of the disks using the Disk Utility to get very fast I/O spread across all 12 disks. Otherwise, it is very loud, it uses a large amount of power, and is bulky, not to mention expensive. I have one collecting dust, I actually noticed a drop in my electric bill after I powered it off.
Would the PowerDomain 29160N (http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/pr...&cat=/Technology/Macintosh/SCSI+for+Macintosh) allow this device to hook up to my G4?? I had one of these devices with 12 36 gb drives and needed space to store some programs. I think I may buy a new hard drive (and put it right into my G4) becuase it sounds like the multipack will be more of a nuisance than a useful thing.
