It can only be appeased by either:
If it happens to be a .wmv file that is not opening for you, consider getting Flip4Mac and Perian. They shalt solve most of thine media viewing needs.

2. Posting your computer's specifications such as OS, RAM, HD, Processor, Model, number of pizza sauce stains.

Crotchety UI Nitpicker
Windows Media Player is obsolete. Microsoft stopped supporting it in favor of Flip4Mac WMV Player a couple years ago.
VLC and MPlayer can also play WMV files (but Flip4Mac is better, I think).
